Before beginning to plan our own, we sat down and reminisced the wedding previoulsly addended. A good friend of mine was kind enough to offer a DVD of their big day which took place just a year earlier. Those interested in cultural diversity and Russian traditions would find the below described procedures interesting and very education.
A typical Russian Wedding consists of the following:
1. "Buying Out" the bride
2. Ceremony in the City Hall
3. Church ceremony (optional, but increasingly popular)
4. Visiting monuments, historical sites or parks (laying flowers, and taking breathtaking pictures)
5. The restaurant
The above procedures include hundrets of details particular only to the Russian culture, which I will do my best to describe in colorful details. What is common in the Russian wedding with all the weddings in the world- it is carefully planned, heavily organized and ends up an impulsive chaos. :)
What would the world be like without extreme regulation? Is it necessary? Love and marriage suddenly becomes so unromantic and tediously unceremonious when all these governmental obligations are placed upon them. Great writing Olga!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you MY, the wedding had all the fun sucked out of it by pre-organized and compulsive schedule. It was literally like the episode in friends, where monica scheduled a time for when everyone could pee or say a toast to the newlyweds. We were a wreck towards the end of the evening. It felt more like we were "in" our wedding the 2 months while organizing it, and the actualy ceremony was just a pain we had to go through...
ReplyDeleteIt all worth it at the end Sweetie, but yeah they sure would make you sweat before you get married.
ReplyDeleteI really loved the idea that you got married first of all in church. For me this is the most important thing. Paper means nothing, but unite your marriage before God is totally awesome... Can't wait to see you all. I still have not gotten you any engagement and wedding presents. So you better tell me what you want woman!!! It will be easier for me to get it when you will be in Oman though. As I know for a fact nothing gets to Tashkent from here, not even a letter... :(
oh thats a shame! I didnt know our postoffice was so inefficient! Well hun, keep commenting on the blog, it is really important for me :)
ReplyDeleteI sure will, Sweetie. You just gotta keep posting. :) Love you!
ReplyDeleteI really try, but my head begins to overflood with thoughts and ideas everytime i open my blog and i can seem to be able to organize them or decide what to write next, its crazy.
